Install DocToucan

Install and activate DocToucan

Start with DocToucan Free, then upgrade to the Pro edition of the same product when required.

Requirements

  • WordPress 6.8 or newer.
  • PHP 8.1 or newer.
  • WooCommerce only when product-resource workflows are required.

Install Free

  1. Install and activate DocToucan. Usage sharing is optional.
  2. Open DocToucan → Home for library and documentation draft starters, or All Documents to manage existing records.
  3. Review Article presentation under DocToucan → Settings. DocToucan Wide is the recommended default.
  4. Create a Document or insert a DocToucan block on a page. Starter pages remain Draft until you publish them.

Upgrade to Pro

  1. Download the Pro ZIP from your customer account and install it through Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin.
  2. Activate Pro as the replacement edition; DocToucan deactivates Free automatically.
  3. Activate your existing Pro licence, then open DocToucan → Pro Setup and complete the checklist.
  4. Verify protected storage, search tables and scheduled governance on DocToucan → Pro Status.

Recovery rule: activating Free again is a downgrade and preserves central Documents, Pro policy metadata and protected manifests. Paid workflows require an entitled Pro edition. Never delete protected storage manually.
