A closer look at three Pro workflows in WordPress. These are screenshots with sample documents, not a live admin session.
Choose the collection once.
Give your library a name, choose a layout and select its categories. This example uses a private folder view for a field kit.
Preview it, then reuse it.
Copy the saved library’s shortcode into a page. The preview shows its folders and Documents; access rules still decide what each visitor can see. Choose Shared when the library is ready for visitors.
Keep the file history together.
Choose a replacement file and give it a version label. Earlier files stay in the history, where you can make a stored version current again without creating another Document.
Set a date to check it again.
Use Review due to record when a manual needs checking. Access expiry is a separate setting: a review date does not itself withdraw the file.
Choose who qualifies.
For a customer-only resource, select WooCommerce purchaser, choose the product and set the qualifying order statuses. Here, a completed order for the sample field kit qualifies.
Protect the file itself.
Use enforced private storage alongside the access policy. This moves the attachment outside the public web root, so a public Media Library URL cannot bypass the delivery rules.

Annual subscription in USD; no trial. The introductory price applies to the first payment only; renewal uses the selected tier’s regular annual price. Renews automatically each year unless cancelled before renewal. Taxes are calculated for your location, and Freemius is the Merchant of Record. Your exact total is shown before payment. Manage cancellation and billing in the Freemius customer portal.

What can I build with DocToucan?
Publish a resource library for manuals, brochures, policies or forms; build a help centre with readable guides; or put resources on WooCommerce product pages. You can use the same file or guide in more than one place without creating a separate entry for each view.
What does Pro add?
Pro adds folder browsing, selected-file ZIP downloads, search inside supported files and protected delivery, plus tools for maintaining a larger collection. Use file versions and review dates to keep resources current, or category and variation rules to manage WooCommerce resources. Your existing Documents stay in place when you upgrade.
Can visitors search inside my files?
Pro can index text inside supported files, including TXT, DOCX, PPTX, XLSX and ODT, with highlighted results. Free searches document titles, descriptions, Article content and file details. Built-in PDF text extraction and OCR are not included; previewing a PDF is a different feature from searching its contents.
Can I restrict who downloads a file?
Yes, with Pro’s protected-storage and delivery workflow. Set role, user or password rules and use expiring links where needed. Normal WordPress Media Library URLs are public, so hiding a file from a list does not protect its original URL. Use the protected-delivery guide for that workflow.
Can I add manuals to WooCommerce products?
Yes. Free lets you select and order public Documents in an individual product’s Resources tab. Pro adds category and variation rules, bulk assignment and purchaser/account delivery. WooCommerce is optional for libraries and help articles. DocToucan manages product resources; it does not generate invoices or packing slips.
Will DocToucan work with my WordPress theme?
DocToucan supports standards-based block and classic themes without requiring a special theme. Libraries fit into your pages; Articles offer Wide and Theme Integrated layouts while keeping your site’s header and footer. Pro adds presentation choices. Check the tested-theme guide for the compatibility boundary.
Can I bring documents from another plugin?
Pro has migration tools for supported content from Barn2 Document Library, Download Monitor, WordPress Download Manager, BetterDocs, Echo Knowledge Base and weDocs, plus CSV/WXR transfer. Review the preview and warnings, import as Draft and check the result before publishing. Source data is left intact; layouts and custom access rules do not transfer automatically.
How many websites does a Pro licence cover?
Choose an annual licence for 1, 3 or 25 production websites. Each option includes the same Pro feature set, updates and priority support for its covered sites. Select your site limit in the pricing section before opening checkout.
Does the first-year price apply to renewals?
No. The new-customer offer applies to the first annual term only. Your subscription renews at the annual renewal price shown for the selected licence. First-year and renewal terms are displayed before payment, with applicable taxes shown at checkout.
What happens if I don't renew?
Your Documents and saved settings are kept. Renewing maintains Pro updates and priority support; access to Pro features after expiry follows the terms shown for your licence. Protected downloads do not become public just because a licence expires or the site switches to Free.
What licensing platform do you use?
We use Freemius for checkout, payments, subscriptions, licence management and customer accounts. Your customer account provides access to your licences, downloads and billing details.
How do I upgrade from Free to Pro?
Choose a Pro licence, download the Pro ZIP from your customer account and install it through WordPress’s Upload Plugin screen. Activating Pro uses Freemius’s standard edition switch to deactivate Free. Activate your licence and continue with your existing Documents and settings; you do not need to rebuild your libraries.
